It is the first almond cream patented in Spain: patent no. 45814, dated September 5th, 1932.

The origin of KLAM Products S.A.(formerly Klam Laboratorios) is centred in the Farmacia del Castell located at the Plaça del Castell no. 8 in Reus, Spain. There, Salvador Vallverdú Gebelli worked as a pharmacist from 1914, when he took over the pharmacy, until his death in 1936. Previously, the pharmacy had belonged to Joaquim R. de Cortada, a pharmacist and the father of Francisca de Cortada Gava, who married Salvador Vallverdú Gebelli.
Vallverdú Gebelli was a restless man and so, with his own knowledge added to what he had learned in the pharmacy, he founded Klam Laboratories in 1920. Attached to the pharmacy, it was there that Vallverdú Gebelli researched, developed and patented pharmaceutical specialities that were sold all over Spain.
He also investigated other processes and products; the last of which was ALMENDRINA almond cream in 1932.
In 1942, José Ramón Vallverdú de Cortada, the son of Salvador Vallverdú Gebelli, took over the pharmacy and the laboratory annex after having finished his university studies in Madrid.
What is considered the original first factory was 10 square metres in the basement of the Farmacia del Castell. It operated in that location from 1932 until 1952, when it moved to Calle Sta. Clara, where it was located until 1964. It was then that the new building in Calle Castellvell was inaugurated. The factory remained at that location for several years until it moved in 1995. Its new premises in the Agro-Reus industrial estate were more spacious and modern and the factory has remained there ever since. Today’s factory has all the best of the present while providing the peace-of-mind and security that comes from having a factory of the future.
The ingredients of our product, ALMENDRINA, are essentially the same as those used by its inventor, Salvador Vallverdú Gebelli. The only improvements to our product have been those that practice, experience and modern techniques have demonstrated as suitable. |

Today we can say that our product, ALMENDRINA is well established all across the country, with more or less presence depending on the region.
It is mostly through large distribution that our product,ALMENDRINA has been introduced on the market, through the most prominent grocery chains in the country, supermarket networks, large-scale wholesalers, and so on. But it can also be found in pharmacies, dietary shops, herbalists, specialized shops, small businesses, etc.
Therefore, without ruling out the possibility of increasing our presence in the regions of Spain where there are still growth opportunities, we have begun branching out into exterior markets, starting with the countries nearest to us: France, Italy and England (where our products are already available). |
